Outstanding Armenian artist Lev Bayakhchev was born, lived and died in Tbilisi, Georgia - the country where many prominent Armenian artists, such as Bayakhchev's friend - a famous film director and artist Serge Parajanov, lived and worked.

Georgian National Museum owns a comprehensive collection of Lev Bayakhchev's art. Special solo exhibition of these works was held in Tbilisi in September 2010 for 80-th anniversary of the artist. Bayakhchev's art is preserved in numerous public and private art galleries and collections internationally.

This outstanding rare gouache painting was created in 1981. It is entitled "Winter" and features beautiful church in Tbilisi. The work was purchased in the early 1980-ies from the artist himself.
